A Powerball ticket worth $50,000 was sold in New Jersey for Wednesday’s lottery drawing while the $478.2 million jackpot was won by a single ticket sold in Georgia.
The lucky Powerball third-prize ticket sold in New Jersey was purchased at Pastore Wine & Liquor on Montgomery Street in Jersey City. It matched four numbers plus the Powerball.
Wednesday’s winning Powerball numbers were: 11, 25, 57, 62 and 64. The Powerball drawn was 15 with a Power Play of 2X.
Two second-prize tickets worth $1 million each were sold in Pennsylvania and Texas.
No one won the secondary, $10 million Double Play drawing on Wednesday. Those winning numbers were: 1, 42, 43, 58, and 66. The Double Play Ball number was 20.
The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are 292,201,388 to 1. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to match five numbers and win at least $1 million, while the odds are 913,129 to 1 to win a third prize of at least $50,000.
Powerball drawings are held each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Powerball jackpot resets to $20 million for Saturday’s drawing.
